Cry for Help

The next meal of the dining club is just five days away. It's time for me to start preparing. But I've run into a bit of a hurdle: I put pig's feet on the menu with no idea where to buy them. Fresh pig's feet are not common in American kitchens; if they ever appear it's usually in smoked or pickled form. Nor Fairway nor Citarella nor Gristede's carries them. It's time to get a little creative. I'll be scouring the yellow pages for butcher shops tonight, and if that fails, I'll probably be trolling around Chinatown before too long. Any help in this regard would be greatly appreciated.

you should check out o.ottomanelli & sons on bleecker street just east of 7th avenue. The tend to be able to find me obscure cuts of meat, such as beef cheeks and the like. Unforutnately you probably missed the window, as they place orders thursday morning for fri/sat deliveries to the store.

Thanks. There's also an Ottomanelli's on Amsterdam in the 70s or 80s, although I think its selection is more limited. I opted for Chinatown instead. Thanks anyway.

I know a place in the Bronx, but that's probably too far.
Generally, the fact that nobody carries them should tell you something.

Maybe, but hardly anybody carries lard either, and it's tough to argue with pork fat. Drop me a line on your trotter connection in the Bronx.

Check out Faicco's on Bleecker Street. They usually have pig feet. We've wanted to smuggle some home, but we're not sure if the airline will let us put them in the overhead bin.

HI I am the Granddaughter of Philip A Faicco and the daughter of Alan D Faicco. I just wanted to say that I am glad everyone likes your store and one day I will have to eat there. Hopefully this summer ( 2005 ). It will be an honor.
